Our Kindergarten Teachers
Chevon StarnesKindergarten/1st Grade Teacher
My name is Chevon Starnes. I earned my bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Western Governors University in 2009, and I have been teaching since 2010. I have been at MMA for two years. I earned my Montessori certification in 2017, and I enjoy having a Montessori principal in our school. You will notice a lot of my students using ASL, as I teach them to use sign language on a daily basis! I look forward to teaching your child!
Kaitlyn GekiereKindergarten Teacher
My name is Kaitlyn and I am a proud kindergarten teacher at Macomb Montessori Academy. This will be my second year teaching at MMA. I love teaching kindergarten and all the exploring, learning, and fun we get to have! When I am not in the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family, friends, and my puppy! Some of my favorite things are my nieces, children’s books, giraffes, traveling, camping, and kayaking! I can’t wait to spend the next year learning and growing with you!
Amanda NantaisKindergarten/1st Grade Teacher
My name is Ms. Amanda and I am a kindergarten and first grade teacher at MMA. I attended Ferris State University where I focused on language arts and mathematics. I am passionate about making my classroom a safe, welcoming place for students to do many hands-on learning activities. I love teaching kindergarten because this is the year to see amazing growth from students. Outside of school, I spend time with my one-year-old son and family. I also enjoy crafting, fitness, and finding new adventures.

I’m married and have five fur babies: two dogs, Bella and Stewie; a cat, Shadow; and two dwarf rabbits, Cocoa and Cotton. I enjoy watching and helping children grow to their greatest potential.
