Curriculum Overview

The main purpose of a Montessori education is to provide a carefully planned, stimulating environment based on developmental needs that will help the child establish an excellent foundation for creative learning.

The specific goals for the children who attend a Montessori school include:

  • Developing a positive attitude toward school
  • Individualized learning activities
  • Engaging in a learning task that particularly appeals to him or her geared to his or her needs and level of readiness
  • Working at his or her own rate, repeating the task as often as he or she likes, thus experiencing a series of successful achievement
  • Developing self-confidence

Montessori Curriculum

As educators within the philosophy of Montessori, it is our mission to create an environment that directs the students toward self-actualization in all areas of study by recognizing their stages of development.

It is our objective to direct students toward critical thinking skills and awareness of their environment through the use of their five senses.

Areas of Study:

Practical Life – enables the child to develop:

  • coordination
  • independence
  • fine motor development
  • concentration

Sensorial – enables the child to develop:

  • sense of order
  • differentiate each of the five senses
  • improve each of the five senses
  • prepare for language and math

Math – enables the child to develop:

  • number concepts
  • operations
  • time and money
  • measuring

Language Arts – enables the child to develop:

  • letter sounds
  • reading
  • handwriting
  • grammar
  • vocabulary

The Sciences – provides hands-on experience in:

  • Botany
  • Geography
  • Physical Science
  • Life Science

Additional studies – enables children to broaden their experiences through:

  • Geography and Cultural Studies
  • Music
  • Art
  • Sign Language
  • Computer Studies
