Welcome to the 2019/2020 School Year!

Welcome!  We hope you are relaxed, recharged and ready to start a new school year. We are anxiously awaiting your student’s arrival! All signs point to another incredible and productive school year. Our skilled and devoted staff is already planning and preparing for your child. Ms. Kenesha is registering new families, ordering needed materials and updating student files. Our hard-working and conscientious custodians have spent the entire summer thoroughly cleaning the facility.  We are indeed a joyous and caring community with the common goals of nurturing responsible, caring students and promoting high-level learning.  New Staff Each year brings positive change. This includes a few additions to our staff. We welcome a new kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Courtney and our new STEAM teacher Mr. Kyle. They bring a wealth of experience to MMA and it is going to make for a great year.  Facilities Update If you drove past the school, you may have noticed new flowers and mulch surrounding the school. Inside you will find new paint, carpet and some re-decorating. We can’t wait to have you see it. We are thankful and appreciate that families trust us with the opportunity to educate the children of our community. It remains an [...]

Building updates for this upcoming fall 2019

Building updates for this upcoming fall 2019 When you walk into Macomb Montessori Academy and Second Home Child Development Center, it is going to feel like a very different place. The staff has been busy all summer making sure kids have a new sense of pride in their school.  “We want our kids to think of their school as their home away from home, so it was important that we spend a little extra time investing in cleaning and doing small projects to make this a reality,” Cheryl Paull, head of school at Macomb Montessori Academy, said.  “Students feel important when they are in an atmosphere where it is clean and feels refreshed. Going the extra mile to get things done is what we wanted to do. Our kids are worth it. They are what keeps us going every single day,” Michelle Nighbert, Director of Second Home Child Development Center, said. With the help of staff members from Choice Schools Associates and our incredible maintenance crew of Mr. Mitch and Mr. Andrew, the following things will be new or refreshed for this upcoming school year:  New carpet on the MMA side  Mulch around the front and side of the building [...]

Choice Serves at MMA/SHCDC

Every year Choice Schools Associates, our management company, has a service day for one of their schools. This year they came out to help MMA & Second Home get our school ready for the 2019/2020 school year! We all worked hard washing walls, painting bathrooms, cleaning and reorganizing classrooms and supply closets, weeding, planting and mulching our gardens. It was an incredible day filled with hard work, partnership, and fun! We are so thankful for the help we received from Choice Schools, and we are ready for our students to come back this fall!

We love each one of our teachers. They are amazing. They give love, attention and acceptance to all of their students.  More importantly, they see the potential in every child and sacrifice their needs for the needs of their students.   “At Macomb Montessori Academy, we are lucky to have incredible teachers like Ms. Lauren who dedicate their time and energy to meet the needs of each student.” Cheryl Paull, Principal of MMA, said. “We are lucky to have her as part of our MMA family for the past four years!”  Where did you go to college and what inspired you to work in a school setting?  I attended Baker College. I always wanted to be a teacher. I love helping students and seeing the joy on their faces when they understand what they are learning.  What was the deciding factor in choosing to teach at MMA?  I always loved the Montessori philosophy. I wanted to teach at a school where students work at their own pace and their own level. It is important for me to teach students in small groups or individually. MMA allowed me to teach the way I wanted to teach.   How do you build a family-like [...]
