Macomb Montessori Academy celebrates the holidays with the Windemere Park Senior Living Community

Everyone had tears in their eyes as Ms. Wonda, a teacher at MMA sang, the closing song O’Holy Night at the Windemere Park Senior Living Center. The song captured Macomb Montessori Academy’s goal of spreading holiday cheer and community while they visited.

All who participated experienced pure joy.

Partnering with community organizations and sharing love during the holiday season is what MMA strives to do every year and this continues to be a favorite activity for students. This year was no different as they partnered with Windemere Park Senior Living Community in Warren, MI. They collected donations and items that they could distribute to the residents.

Ms. Cheryl, head of school at MMA, reached out to the local Meijer who generously donated $500.00 for the purchase of items such as hand sanitizer, chapstick, lotion, tissues, sweet treats, etc.

Ms. Miranda, MMA’s Occupational Therapist, brought delicious homemade cookies that her students also decorated. When Ms. Chevon’s students sang, they used the sign language they learned in class.

A select couple of students from each classroom and Ms. Wonda taught Christmas carols to the residents. The beautiful sounds of Jingle Bells and We Wish You a Merry Christmas rang throughout the halls! There were smiles and laughs all around. What a fun experience for everyone!
